For those seeking to increase their work zone safety and traffic control knowledge but do not require the TCC designation, it is recommended to attend the Work Zone Safety Awareness workshop instead. Participants who successfully complete this course will be eligible to serve as TCC and shall have the responsibility and authority to implement and maintain all traffic operations for the project. Upon successful completion of the 3-day course and submission of all prerequisite documentation, a TCC wallet card will be issued. Those who do not provide prerequisite documentation are only eligible for a course certificates of attendance with applicable PDH credit.

The course covers standard work zone protection as specified in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Sessions on OSHA, NJDOT, and state police relationships and work zone traffic control liability issues are included.
