The New Jersey Historic Trust announces the availability of matching funds for historic preservation projects through the Preserve New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund (PNJHPF). Grants are available in three categories:

  • Capital Preservation Grants (Level I and II),
  • Historic Site Management Grants, and
  • Heritage Tourism Grants.

Purpose: Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and government entities. Since 1990, more than $170 million in matching grants have been awarded to worthy historic preservation construction and planning projects throughout the State. Properties must be listed in, or eligible to be listed in, the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and/or the National Register of Historic Places. All work must be performed in compliance with the Secretary for Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, 2017.

Amount of money in the grant program: In the 2020 grant round, approximately $10 million in matching grants will be available for capital preservation, historic site management, and heritage tourism grants.

Deadline: 4:00 P.M. on April 23, 2020.
